“Mutton is to lamb what a millionaire uncle is to his poverty-stricken nephew,” said 18th Century actor, Des Essarts (1740-1793). The Roebuck has joined with some of our favourite suppliers for this celebration of British Farming, Cookery and Hospitality. Learn about this underrated meat with butchery and cookery demonstrations by Laughton farmers and butchers, Maxine and Ivan May, from Mays’ Farm Cart, and chef, Dominic McCartan. Enjoy a three-course mutton banquet accompanied by wines selected by Cassie and Henry from Butlers Wine Cellar. Meet up at the Snowdrop Inn from where you will be transported to the sumptuous ‘Baronial Hall’ at the Roebuck. Recipes will be provided and there will be an opportunity to buy or order mutton cuts from Maxine before boarding the bus at the end of the evening to return to Lewes. £45 ticket includes transport, three-course meal and a glass of wine with each course.
Transport will be provided to Lewes at the end of the evening. Booking: 01323 811244 or by email
