OctoberFeast Returns!

Throughout Lewes from Sept 15th to 8th Oct 2017

If you would like to take part in OctoberFeast this year please contact Alison or Jiffa by 30th June 2017. We look forward to hearing from you!

Each year the most hospitable and daring home cooks in Lewes open their doors as part of our programme of pop-up suppers. Each event is personalised: busy or intimate, formal or conceptual – all are unique.

We invite companies, groups and individuals to think how they might earn money, and have fun, by hosting an event during OctoberFeast. It could be a screening, talk, workshop or conceptual menu. Anything goes.

We help combat food waste by bringing our apple press to town, helping the community to make better use of our natural resources. This year the press will be held on Sept 23rd & 24th at the Linklater Pavilion on Lewes Railway Land.

All power to your elbow with our apple press

Make your own delicious apple juice

Don’t let your apples and pears go to waste – instead bring them along to the Linklater Pavilion on Railway Land on Saturday and Sunday, 23rd and 24th  September and have them pressed for a moderate charge of 50p per litre.

Volunteer pressers needed

The OctoberFeast Press holds 18kg of crushed fruit which will produce approximately 8 litres of juice. With a full press, it should be possible to do 3 pressings an hour so we would love to have some help!  So do please come and help us make the most of this lovely free fruit!

Our food festival will soon be upon us

Now is your challenge to tend your fruit and reserve at least some in September to enjoy pressing your very own natural fruit juice. Nothing could be a better reward.  If possible bring your own containers but we have some to sell on site.

Check out the OctoberFeast blog for recipes, interviews and details of how to get the most out of this year’s festival.
